O Lord. Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Thou hast redeemed us with Thy Blood, O Lord.
And made of us a kingdom for our God.
Let us pray.
Almighty, and everlasting God, Who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the Redeemer of the world, and hast been pleased to be reconciled unto us by His Blood, grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate with solemn worship the price of our salvation, that the power thereof may here on earth keep us from all things hurtful, and the fruit of the same may gladden us forever hereafter in heaven.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
For Freedom, Christ Has Set Us Free!
What will you do with your freedom?
In the Church calendar of saints, July 4th celebrates Pier Giorgio Frassatti who died on July 4th, 1925. A young Italian man, Frassatti developed a deep spiritual life, joining the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the age of 17 and dedicated much of his spare time to serving the sick and the needy, caring for orphans, and helping servicemen returning from World War I.
Pier Giorgio loved climbing mountains and giving what little money he had to the poor. He eventually died of polio at the age of 24 and the homeless whom he served flooded the streets of his funeral. Now a "Blessed" on the road to formal sainthood, Pier Giorgio Frassati shows us what a life lived generously looks like.
To follow the example of Christ and live that witness generously is to use your freedom for its highest end.
"For freedom, Christ has set us free" (Galatians 5:1)
Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassatti, pray for us!
